Password visibility (new to Ubuntu, new custom built PC)

Hallo, newbie to Ubuntu here!

I'd had a PC custom built intending to use it to run Blender, however the fella who put the PC together, and went ahead and set (and saved) the initial login password, informed me that it was a 4 character password, however when I go into Settings > Authentication & Login, I can see the password is 5 characters not 4, which obviously doesn't match the password that I was given. Worse luck, the fella who assembled the PC cannot for the life of him remember what he actually set the password as!

Is it possible to make the saved password visible in Settings so that I can change it properly? Or if not, is there any other way around this issue?
