Install to Samsung Slate AQT100 (10 inch, Sprint brand) recommendable?

Stuck with this tablet for now, and leery of upgrading via Sprint support because of poor review of earlier rev.
My rural bandwidth budget is limited, so I'd like to try Ubuntu first.
Existing Android rev 5.1.1; hardware vs. 5
