I have an iPad but it obviously does not work with Linux since it's tied to iTunes. I want to get a new tablet that will work with Linux. I have done a bunch of searches on this topic and responses seem to be focused upon rooting the tablet to install Linux. I have no desire to hack this new tablet at all.

I am looking for a tablet that I can control from Linux with open source software package(s) that together have similar functionality to that of iTunes. I want it to run as-is and be able to put books, files, music, videos, perform backups, etc on it using some variant of Ubuntu.

Is this possible with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 or some other tablet? What software do I need?
