x2go server

Hello, I have recently started using Ubuntu to operate my Raspberry pi 4. I need to have remote access to it and I read here in the forums that a much better option to a VNC is to use x2go.
I went through all the documentation available in their site and I managed to install the x2go server side on the Rpi and the x2go client side on the Windows PC, both running in a LAN.
Now I am stuck because when I connect the client, I only get a black screen. I am not sure how to proceed to activate correctly the Desktop Environment, although I did install XFCE on the server side.
Any help would be really appreciated!
