I received this nastygram from QIII two days ago:
Code:
Dear ml9104,

You have received an infraction at Ubuntu Forums.

Reason: Culturally insensitive insult
-------
ur response to this thread with this post was both culturally insensitive and offensive to those who take to heart the idea and sentiment of "ubuntu".

You have been granted what I believe to be a great deal too much leeway in the past by other members of the forums staff without drawing an infraction.
You do, however, have a very long list of user notes discussing your previous behavior.

You are receiving a 5 point, non-expiring infraction for your troubles this time.
-------

This infraction is worth 5 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

All the best,
Ubuntu Forums

I was somewhat shocked. Yes, I made a silly comment that normally would offend no one, at least not where I come from. But the US apparently ticks differently today.
I'm apparently not "woke" enough. Being in the 60s, that may well be.

But what offended ME personally in a serious way was this sentence:
Code:You have been granted what I believe to be a great deal too much leeway in the past by other members of the forums staff without drawing an infraction.
You do, however, have a very long list of user notes discussing your previous behavior.
I'm now a serial offender/infractor? With a long list? Really?
I've been going back over my last posts (only 4 weeks were possible, forum limitation it seems), and I saw only constructive/technical replies.

I don't know what "5 points" mean, and I don't really care.

But I'll not accept this slur from QIII.

I tried PMs to QIII a couple of times the last days, but to no avail (although QIII was online). I asked for examples of my "constant/serial misbehaviour". But QIII seems to operate with "very fast damnation, very slow documentation".

I leave other options open, as this is defamation.

This post will probably disappear very quickly, and also get me kicked off the forum. I can live with that. My own Lubuntu runs perfectly and I don't need the forum any more. I'll share my experiences elsewhere. Say Hi to QIII.
ml9104 is now offline.
