No more Firefox for me; blame snaps

First I tried to import a CSV file with logins by flipping the switch in about:config to enable login imports. Then I saved a password file from Firefox on another machine. I could not get the import to work. I can go through the steps, but the accounts never appear.

Well, I thought, it's probably an issue with using the snap version of Firefox. This is a new installation, and I hadn't yet bothered to switch from the snap to the deb version of Firefox as described, among other places, here: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2022/04/...t-ubuntu-22-04 as I had done in the past. I followed all those steps carefully and still cannot get apt to choose the version of Firefox at the PPA over the snap version. I've done this on other machines, but I struck out entirely on this one.

So that's probably it for my decades-long experience with Firefox on Linux. I've switched to Chrome; at least I can install that from its repository. There needs to be a simple way to avoid all this snap business. How about a check box during installation that says, "Do not use snap packages"?
