Xubuntu 22,04 PulseAudio disabled my USB DAC, trying to re-enable

Greetings all,

A week ago I found myself forced to upgrade to 22.04 LTS from 20.04 LTS. It went largely smoothly. Sound worked normally through my USB DAC, which has often been cross-threaded with PulseAudio.

Last Friday, another update went out, and my USB DAC was disabled. So I checked the usual suspects:

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf did not disable snd-usb.

aplay -l lists the USB DAC.

pacmd list shows the USB DAC and shows it as the default sink.,

alsamixer has it enabled.

/etc/pulsa/default.pa and system.pa currently don't load suspend-on-idle (because it was showing up as suspended), although I did try getting to it via module-alsa-sink, but that got to a different device.

pavucontrol does NOT list the USB DAC as an output device.

So, I'm open to suggestions to get it listed in pavucontrol again.

I'm not a PulseAudio expert. I've learned what little I know because PulseAudio seems by default hostile to USB sound devices.
