workspace switching with multiple monitors

On Ubuntu 22.04, switching between workspaces (with Ctrl+Left or Ctrl+Right) only switches the primary screen - content on secondary monitors (external monitors for a laptop) don't switch. Is there any way to get the other monitors to switch workspaces as well?
I'm using lightdm, not gdm. Don't know if that's relevant.
