RDP from Mac to Ubuntu 22.04

I am having an issue being able to RDP to my Ubuntu laptop from my Mac. I have made all the normal configurations (Enabled sharing, Installed xrdp and enabled that and allowed port 3389 in ufw). The issue that I keep getting is actually two-fold. One is that I configure Remote Desktop sharing in the Settings and it reverts back to off after reboot. Two, the remote desktop client on the Mac connects to the Ubuntu but, only displays a terminal session and not a desktop as suspected. Any help or assistance would be appreciated.
