sos please help Epson printer wont work

HI everyone, I am total novice with I.T. and computers, so please excuse my ignorance. I have a lap top running on ubuntu 20.4.6. LTS, reason for this is I hate windows. My problem my new printer (2nd hand from my brother hardly used) Epson xp245 wont recognise my laptop. The printer had new ink and paper and it scan prints no problem , it prints status report no problem but when I try to print a file from my laptop or anything from my laptop it prints a blank page. The laptop knows the printer is connected it just wont print. I have had it into a shop and they said printer wasn't compatible but I have read on Epson website it is. Can any help me please with an idiot proof guide, I dont know how to install drivers and the disc that came with printer doesn't help. Its a really good printer and I grudge buying a new one, also guy in repair shop said none of his stock printers would run from linux / Ubuntu. Thanks in advance anyone who can advise.
