Remote desktop is not advertising itself on local network

Ubuntu desktop version 21.04 clean install.
Set up desktop sharing via settings->sharing menu (trying to stay with system defaults as much as possible)

The desktop is not being advertised on the local network. It should, avahi is running.
Please advise on how to get this working.
