Ubuntu Unity 8 & Convergence Demo at MWC 2016

Lovely demo of where mobile is going. Most interesting in terms of convergence, IMO, is the "desktop mode" switch button you see at 3:35 into the video.

I wonder if that option will be available on the phone, when you're just using the phone (and no external screen). I mean, yes, all the usual caveats will apply about how the phone's screen is really too small for desktop mode. Yes, it would be cumbersome and tricky to use the phone like that. But I want it anyway...more than anything else, I want a phone that I can switch to desktop mode from time to time. I want the freedom of being able to do that and screen real estate be damned.
