Considered a Herrick for add a non standard DE

I'm wanting to add a de/wm such as bswpm or or a de/vm that as closely emulates the look and feel of Common Desktop Environment or some another similar de/vm. I'd still keep the original gnome interface. My question is would I be seen as a lunatic for "tainting" a perfectly good Ubuntu system by adding one of the aforementioned WM?DEs?
