°WSo I finally installed Ubuntu on an old 2012 Macbook Pro 13"
To the point,
things that worked out of the box:
- WiFi
- Audio
- Screen (everything looks good on Retina, automatically scaled)
- STEAM was opening at 100%, so super small fonts, but managed to fix it on the .desktop file
- Same with Spotify, but fixed it doing CONTROL +
- Webcam (was surprised by that)
Need to properly configure- Bluetooth: it appears to work, detects devices, but once I pair it with earphones, they sound intermitent (sound ON, then OFF with delay)
- Battery: it runs out super fast and the laptop itself heats up if I have it plugged charging
Questions
- I have installed TLP and PowerTop, but I'm not sure if I have to manually set them up or do they work with auto tune or automatically out of the box?
- If I'm using 20.04, do I need to add the Mactel-Support PPA and install the utilities there to properly configure the battery, fans and bluetooth or are those tools outdated?
I see a lot of documentation online that seems super helpful but I'm not sure which ones to follow, as some of them are from 2009 (as an example).
