Symptoms
- Apache service goes down frequently
- The following errors can be found in the Apache error log /var/log/httpd/error_log:
AH03262: mod_watchdog is required
AH00020: Configuration Failed, exiting
- The following errors can be found in the system log /var/log/messages:
systemd[1]: httpd.service: Reload operation timed out. Killing reload process.
Systemd[1]: httpd.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.Cause
The watchdog module is required for Apache to work, however it is disabled on the server
Resolution- Log into Plesk
- Go to Plesk > Tools & Settings > Apache Web Server
- Enable the watchdog Apache module
- Press OK
