Title: Anyone else play Tanki MMO browser game? How to boost FPS in google chrome?
Post by: mahesh on Oct 30, 2023, 07:58 AM
Hello, I recently installed Ubuntu 22.04 and in the past usually used Windows 11.
I play this game frequently back on Windows 11 Google Chrome browser and got 165 fps
with my ASUS TUF A15 2021 Laptop (Ryzen 7 5800H - RTX 3060).

Buit with Ubuntu I get fluctuating fps (60-165 fps); I thought perhaps someone in the forums might
know a way to tweak the settings with Ubuntu and Google Chrome.

I have the latelst Nvidia 525 drivers.

I even tried in terminal: -> google-chrome --args --disable-gpu-vsync --disable-frame-rate-limit
this helped my fps but when I go onto youtube when I watch a video it is choppy...
but if I just lanuch google-chrome normally then youtube vdeos are smooth;
but then the Tanki MMO game the fps is lower.
Tanki uses webgl I believe.

I also played with google chrome settings (chrome://flags and chrome://gpu) turned hardware acceleration on.

If anyone can help improve the fps so it is mainly stuck at 165 fps let me know, thank you.

I still have lots to learn I am new to Ubuntu LInux and like some things about it; just upsets me that the fps is degraded.
