Title: Resurrecting My Old Panp7
Post by: mahesh on Oct 26, 2023, 07:54 AM
I have a Pangolin Laptop that had gotten kind of old and at some point the display just stopped turning on. At the time I was too busy to tinker with it and it literally went in a closet and didn't get touched for a very long time. I just moved and just for giggles, because I found it while moving, I decided to plug it in and see if it would power up. It did for a short period of time and then the display just gets these large boxes/lines all down the screen and locks up (which is better than the nothing that used to appear on the screen). I managed to get into recovery mode, reset my password (which I had forgotten) and lower the display resolution. It seems like since I did that it's staying on more consistently. Just off of the top of my head I would guess there's something wrong with the video card. Does anyone know if this is replaceable? I believe this has an old AMD video card in it which is probably going to have issues as soon as it starts trying to run the zillion updates it hasn't had a chance to run since it's been powered down for a couple years.
