Title: Discrete and integrated graphics switched around?
Post by: kalpana on Oct 25, 2023, 03:57 AM
I installed Ubuntu 22.04 on my iMac 12,2 (mid 2011 I think). It looks absolutely awesome.

But I might have found a problem. As far as I can tell, the IGP and discrete GPU are switched around so Ubuntu uses my IGP when I choose to run something with discrete graphics. Thus, it runs most things on the AMD GPU by default

Steam is set up to start with discrete graphics automatically, thus it uses the IGP unless I click to start it with integrated graphics.

I suspect this is opposite to the intended behavior and may just be an Apple quirk that needs to be addressed in a bug report.

But first - has anyone else run into this? How do I provide the proper information needed for the developers to fix it?

(In other news: Cheese has pretty serious artifacts when using the webcam, but taken photos look normal. I think this bug is underway to be fixed though.)
