Hello,
I cannot believe i am in the unique position that i find myself in and that is that i cannot get to run the real VNC Server when i install on the very latest version of Ubuntu.
I had a similar thread posted earlier and i am afraid that did not gnerate any real interesting solutions that had any impact on the problem.
I have an 2 old Mac Minis and both are loaded with Ubuntu and both are very problematic when i comes to running VNC Server. both mac are about 10 -12 year old, they are the 64 bit machines.
My process for loading RealVNC Server is going to their web site and choosing the appropriate download for the system, i also have to load an additional scrip called a helper script in order to set it up to run and to configure it to run on reboot etc.
Before installing the Realvnc combined code from the VNC site i use the Ubuntu settings to configure allow remote console et.
After i have installed the VNC code and rebooted i try to access the subject machine from another and i can get one of two issues:-
1. I get an error on the remote machine indicating that the connection to the remote device ( the Mac Mini) has been unexpectantly closed. OR
2. I get access to the remote desktop but the actual Desktop keeps on automatically "refreshing" every 5 secs or so, making the access veritually unusable.
PLEASE PLEASE can someone point me in the right direction for the correct way to install this code onto a Ubuntu system, i use the same VNC feature on other machines which are all Raspberry PI's with no issue whatso ever.
Also i am trying to learn about Linux via the use of Ubuntu and not achieving much learning at the moment.
I have tried posting on the VNC forum and have received no responses what so ever!!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to review this post and look forward to hearing some thing to relieve me from this agony???
