Hello, I am new member on the forum and Ubuntu.
I have an old Acer Aspire 6930G Laptop (upgraded CPU from P7350 to T9600). I decided after so many years to give Ubuntu another go.
The problem I have is the same I had in windows. The sound is either very low or loud but the bass is heard like something is breaking inside.
I followed some instructions and managed to install Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) via the terminal and also Pulseaudio mixer.
I set the output to 5.1 surround sound and after a while messing with the controls it worked well. I also increased the sound to 120%.
The PC speakers managed to work flawlessly for 3-4 hours and then started producing the same sound.
In windows 7 this issue was due to corrupted drivers provided by the company and was solved by uninstalling the drivers for windows 7 and installing the drivers from windows Vista.
Looking for any answer and would like to thank you in advance.
The sound card is Realtek HD
