Title: trying to get a machine to turn on
Post by: kalpana on Oct 13, 2023, 04:31 AM
I have been fighting my computers for a couple of days. Its very strange. They all seemed to no longer want to turn on. They did, and then they didn't. Today I was trying figure out what was going on. I have a couple of motherboards and was sick and tired of screwing them in and out when all I want to know is why they don't turn on. I used to think it was the on/off switches. There is the switch and the little thing on the motherboard that is necessary to make that run. Anyway, I had a mother board, not locked in and I put the electricity on the two points most pc motherboards have. I was just chugging along, not paying much attention and suddenly noticed that my fans were running. the connections for the led stuff, the on/off switch, and the restart had not been placed. All there was attached was the power because I neglected to turn off the power. I was amazed! I pulled the power, it went off, I plugged it back on and it turned on! Amazing! So I started to add little things like the booting ssd, etc. then the aforementioned connections, etc. It was still running! Then I started to goto the keyboard and see what it did. I quickly found the keyboard didn't work and I was in the bios and that was it. since then I have kinda duplicated this on a couple of other machines. There is more but that is the most of it.

Does anybody know what is going on? Oh, Then it all stopped and I was back to not turning anything on or doing what I said above. Now, I guess, I have to start over (with a motherboard which is not screwed on or connected to anything but the power (at least to start). the problem now is that nothing will do what it had been doing for over an hour.

I know, it sounds a bit weird and strange and shouldn't happen - the problem is that it did. Hopefully somebody will know what's going on.
