Title: Fresh install of Kubuntu 22.04, no sound through 3.5mm speakers
Post by: mahesh on Oct 12, 2023, 03:43 AM
I've recently made a fresh install of Kubuntu 22.04, finally trying to go cold turkey in switching to Linux as my daily driver instead of dual booting. Most things are coming together fine, but I'm having some problems getting audio working properly. Specifically, I can't seem to get audio working on my primary speakers, which are a simple pair of Creative Pebbles. Normally I'd have them plugged into the headphone jack on my main monitor (an LG 32GK850F), but I've also tried plugging them directly into the rear speaker jack of my motherboard (a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro Rev 1.0).

What makes this particularly frustrating is that audio is working on two devices, without me having to do anything to configure them:

I've tried a few different things suggested in various Ask Ubuntu questions, but at this point I feel like my fumbling at trying to tinker with things might just be making things worse, and I've pretty much lost track of what I have and haven't tried. Would really appreciate someone with more familiarity with these things who might be able to direct me to the proper steps to diagnose and solve this issue.
